Project Icarus

Project Icarus is a dark-organic ambient / ritual-noise industrial project, blending noise textures, industrial layers, and immersive soundscapes.
Originated in 2019-20, Project Icarus was born among the busy dynamics of a capital city and the anguished desolation of a small countryside town. It's the noisy development of a coloured anxiety, a screaming manifesto of the brutality of alienation.
The project is a collection of sonic experiences, each album with a separate concept, each live-set a dedicated novelty.
The musician and performer engages with the audience in a ritualistic catharsis, an alchemical syntesis, through which the archetypal agents and aspects of existence get triggered by the frequencies, the repetition, the contact.
Devoid of constraints, always bringing darkness in bright days.

BIRTH

Out 12 12 2024. Moody and ambient with dark textures framed into intertwined soundscapes recordings.

Ashore, cradled by the mighty winds, surrounded by the loneliness of the oceans, life starts taking shape from the water.
Starts crawling out and explore the elements, rocked by the still hot volcanic surface.
From the beginning of time, a redundant echo made of organic matter clashes with the abstraction of nexly-formed sounds of what seems to be natural, although is closely related to the machines.
Alchemical reactionns of wind and water.
Demiurge watching, as the elements combine.

WITHIN

Out December 2022. This album explores darker and sharp-cutting dissonant tones, blending industrial layers with synth-glitch elements.

WITHIN THE FLESH is the first track of this album. The flesh is a symbol of the city, its burocracy, its time schedules.

The journey begins when a new kind of human is being born from it, from the asphalt and concrete, from the pollution and the high buildings. A heartbeat like a panzer shakes the ground, the new creature is born. An alloy of meat and bitumen, it sees the light of the day for the first time after the human-urban fusion. It is born in what seems like a desolate metropolis.

The creature gains consciousness and starts analysing the new world around it.

With fresh new eyes, that nobody has ever had before, it sees clearly the energy of the city - which takes and gives, like a moody goddess, while the fear for toxic encounters along with perils and dangers in this new universe is behind every corner.

However, it seems that everything is lost and maybe nobody is around. The old hyper-urbanization and the loss of spatial comprehension by the ancient only-flesh humans are seen by the gaze of the new creature. Urban features had rebelled against the abuse and techno-martyrdom of objects of their kind. Object which, contrary to what is thought, have a soul and still re-emit the energy that was given them in the past.
The creature explore the city and finds a rectangular-shaped solid. It's in its hands, black and reflective. The creature starts having the singular, peculiar impulse of doing a really important, almost crucial action, a matter of life or death: check if someone like it is actually around and trying to contact similar beings.

When noone is to be found around, there is just one way to escape for the creature. Namely, to melt in the collective magma of the chaotic Babylon, forget its new consciousness, and repeat the atemporal cycle of death-reborn in the city for eternity.
